| How one in a million can equal one in three
Of a million college professors in America, only one—Williams Professor of Mathematics and Gaudino Scholar Edward Burger— won the 2010 Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching. But at Williams, Ed is only one of three. Colin Adams (Thomas T. Read Professor of Mathematics) won a Cherry Award in 2003, and Bob Bell (Frederick Latimer Wells Professor of English) won one in 1998. The Cherry Award has been given to 18 professors nation- wide. Williams is the only college to have more than one winner. |

...and how one can equal one hundred
In honor of professors like Ed Burger, and in support of our own Williams students, our Parents Fund co-chairs proudly offer you this challenge: if you are making your first gift ever to the Parents Fund, or a larger gift than you have ever made before, they will give an additional $100 to the Parents Fund. If you have already given, we thank you! If you wish to make an additional gift before the Parents Fund ends May 15, you will earn Williams an extra $100. Whatever you can give brings Williams an extra $100 and one person closer to 100 percent participation. Our tuition payments cover about half of the actual cost of educating each of our students. Our Parents Fund gifts, of all sizes, help bridge the gap. Best of all, 100 per- cent of your gift is spent this year to benefit 100 percent of our professors and students.Think of the extras—from library books to basketballs to summer internships to art easels to ultracentrifuges—as the Cherry on top!
